January Series Run down

I couldn't access my Blogspot since late last year, I couldn't upload my photos so I got frustrated I literally left it. But I guess blogging will always be one of my first love. My brain works as if writing is really needed in my life.  I breathe for writing? ahhahaha

For the first few weeks of January, we're all snuggling together since the surge of omicron became very rampant this month. We have been in our rooms for the whole month of January that we decided to just do some binge watching.

The world is a bit different from how it was before COVID-19,
but thanks to that we learned how precious an ordinary day can be.

One of the quotes that hit hard on me is how Covid-19 taught us on how precious life is. This quote made an impact and at the same time reminded us that even if we're going to live our life with Covid we should never waste our time but instead learn to live life as if it's going to be our last.

First on the list was Happiness starring Han Hyo Joo,  Park Hyunsik and Joo Wo Jin. I have been patiently waiting for this series to finish because I have been hearing good reviews from the series. What made me attracted to this series was because it was a Zombie theme series. I am just happy that this series had a happy ending that it had resorted to a cure and because the virus was contained. I'm also excited watching Hyunsik and Hyo Joo because I haven't seen them since W and Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. I love their chemistry too!

At first I was like there's no HAPPY in HAPPINESS! Like how could it be like this but until Hyunsik Said this line " I told you I fell for you the first time I saw you. I knew you were my destiny.
I said to myself that you were the one." Now that's your Happiness :)

Embrace the mess, that's where the good stuff lives.

The trio seems to be an unlikeable pairing but little did they know a friendship had emerged in times when they needed someone. Despite of how gruesome things happen in the end they find strength in one another that every investigation was fun and good. It may be scary but it is where the good stuff happens. This also is applicable in real life, sometimes the prettiest things happened in between the struggles and pains we have faced.

Finished this series within 2 days of my weird timeframe! Starring Steve Martin, Oliver Putnam and Selena Gomez. The crime investigatory start because of Tim Kono. Every episode is always a cliff hanger like dang I need to finish this as soon as possible! Like everyone in the building could and can be a possible suspect. And it's super fun to if you want crime investigatory slash comedy series!

Look at you Seul, you can handle this things pretty well on your own.

Sometimes there are things we fear that we couldn't face alone. There are a lot of moments in our lives when we feel like this thing wouldn't be easy and that's one of the reasons why we ran away, because the pain of the past haunts us.

Starring Lee Dong Wook, Wi Ha Jun, N and Han Ji Eun, this drama is packed with action, drama, and comedy. I just can't stop laughing with all their funny antics!

Another Zombie series! Me and my things with Zombies!

All of us are Dead is not just your typical Zombie Series but it's so much more than that. When I first saw the trailer it reminded me of High School of the Dead. There are a lot of things that you can take away from this drama, from friendships, family, sacrifices, school, and life.

There are some scenes that reminded us of what had happened in reality and some learnings/takeaways from the series.

1. For example that one scene in the classroom where the kids were taking video messages for their parents and it somehow showed that during the Sewol Ferry incident, students also took a video message for their parents. Same as this reality there were adults who were supposed to save them but instead abandoned them, same as the helicopter scene in All of us are dead.

2. Bullying is also one of the main intros's from the series, and it has always been one of the problems students face in school.

3. Grades, the pressure in making students have higher marks to achieve bigger achievements as soon as they graduate from college.

4. There's no greater love than a parent's love for their child, this is one of the scenes that also touched my heart and it showed two types of parents love. One parent created an epidemic to save their son from being bullied one parent would sacrifice everything to protect his daughter.

5. Tough times bring out the best and worst in people, and it's not just about zombies but in general as well.

6. You are your own Survivor, and in Zombie Apocalypse everyone is equal, so if you can help, help as many as you can.

My siblings and I even made some little connections to Zombie series and movies in South Korea. Starting In Seoul where Alive happened and then Train to Busan, when they thought Busan was a safe place but wasn't because Hyosan was infected, but little did they know that history repeats itself because in the Kingdom Era there were Zombies, but in the end, they had find the cure and Happiness is really bound to happen.

Lessons from everything, In order to live the life we should also cherish the happiness that is going on in our lives. We are always talking about Pain is demanded to be felt, but did we truly demand Happiness to be felt. It's also going to start with I. Am I okay with it? Am I happy? Am I fulfilled? This series reminded me it's always going to be okay to choose myself once in a while but at the same time, flow the kindness, happiness, faith, and trust to the people that surround me. I may be affected by the societal expectations from social media, family, friends, and society, I should know that I am my own person, and my decisions matter. I may falter but it's a part of being human as long as we learn from it and we take chances and we do the right thing, it's going to be fine.

Squid Game

I have watched Squid Game during its peak on Netflix and yes I gave in to the Bandwagon.  I became so curious that how in the world does a child's play becomes something sinister. But regardless of how the whole series was played in many intense episodes, the series has lessons, reflections, somehow parallel to our society.

I would share some of the lessons I have learned from the series. I am sooo late in sharing what I have learned, but I hope it's not too late hahahaha

1. Money isn't everything in life.

Do You Know What Someone With No Money Has In Common With Someone With Too Much Money? Living Is No Fun For Them. -Il-Nam

This is one of the things that was always been in my grandparent's breakfast conversation. Money is not everything. All throughout the series, money was always been the number one priority. If I can't have it out there why not make it here. But in life, the more money is involved the more we have to endure life sacrifices. And somehow I feel that every death in the series is every stress at work, home, a family that we lose that sense of balance just because we wanted to earn and earn money.

2. Sometimes in life, it's all about LUCK.

If it's for you, it's for you, at the end of the day if luck is on your side. I always believe in luck, and I know that there are a lot of things that are not meant for me but at the end of the day if luck is by my side it will, it can happen. Just like what happened with our main leads. It may look like all the odds can be in their favor but sometimes it's not. But there are a lot of moments when luck was also on their side.

3. Sometimes, the biggest traitor is not your enemies but the people close to or next to you.

I felt so much pain when Ali was betrayed, Sang Woo. There are some instances that in order to win Sang Woo made choices that were only of his advantage rather than advantages within his team. This is the saddest part of life because unfortunately, the biggest betrayal comes within our circle of family and friends. It's okay to be kind, but don't forget to be mindful about everything around you.

4. Too much greed can kill you.

Not literally and literally. Some of the characters had resulted in their greediness in order to be on the game. They don't care about others as long as they are playing the game.

5.  Money is not everything.

“Do you know what someone with no money has in common with someone with too much money? Living is no fun for them.” - Ill Nam

-Do you think money can solve everything - Gi Hun

Of course, money is important. Without money how can we live?  It's also been one of the main topics when it comes to dramas, they always have this connotation of money is not the source of happiness but of it can buy you what you want and that's the same thing. But at the same time money is the root of all evil, if we became too much greedy for money what is the essence of life for us. But instead, strive to find purpose in living. Invest in things that would give us the reasons to live.

6. No matter what be kind

Just like they say kindness begets kindness. I think this is always put into every movie or series I have watched. No matter what you do always be kind to others because kindness goes and comes around. In every movie, series and in everyday life, the people surrounding us remind us to be kind at all times.

Take out with Squid game. It's fine to be nice but not too nice that you lose the sense of what's going around you. Every little thing we do is connected to a good and bad deed. Think twice before doing something that could affect not only your present but also your future.

Throwback Drama: Misaeng

Throwback to one of the shows that made my heart ached and cry. I was not attracted to this series when it first aired, I felt like way back before I wasn't ready watching a series about having a job because way back before I didn't have something I would call work or job. It became one of my weakest points cause I felt I didn't have something to offer.

Misaeng which means Incomplete Life. It tells the story of the harsh reality of an intern in the workplace. The story mainly focuses on Jang GeuReu who became an intern because of his connection and the people who are with him during his two-year stay at the company called One International.

Let's meet the characters.
Im Si Wan as Jang Geu Rae.
As soon as the first episode started the mood of the story has a subtle blue in hue, sad atmosphere, and loneliness that it was so painful to watch. It started with Jang Geu Rei portrayed by I'm Si Wan, he's the new intern who didn't have any background in a corporate job and was accepted because of connections. Due to this, he was poorly treated by the other interns who are ahead of him, 10-days before, and had a good resume on their sleeves. Him having to graduate with only GED (Korean Highschool Graduation Equivalency Examination) at the same time with connection didn't have his first good weeks at the company.

The series slow-paced feels, gloomy rhythm, and sad color tones, I have felt like I had a first-hand experience of how Jang Geu Rei was, from the moment he stepped inside the office, to being left out and being bullied that it's so painful to watch him suffer from everything during his first few days at work. I wanted to take him out of the computer and hug him. "Don't worry my friend everything shall pass"

The drama had laid details per detail on how he was feeling, how his struggles were, and what I didn't expect with his character is that it felt like he always had few words to say. His emotions were always left unsaid but his emotions, from the blinks of his eyes, to the way he walks, to the twitch of his mouth everything is created in detail that after almost an hour of the episode that just how we would know that his working hours have ended.

What's amazing in this series is that it felt real. Everything that was happening at his office felt like we are also going through the same moments as him. From the people to failures and to small and big victories, everything felt like it wasn't written for the audience to feel, but this story is the audience. This is how life is. That in this situation, you are never alone, we feel the same way they feel. This is the reality.

Our main lead Jan Geu Reu played by I'm Siwan wanted to be a professional Baduk player but had to give up on it due to his family status. His name Geu Reu is like OKAY in Korean, so whenever he hears Gereu he couldn't help but answer.

He started as someone who felt helpless with everything he had to go through during his intern days but did everything in his best to prove himself that he could do it, he is willing to learn, and as he said to Mr. Oh he has the Quality and Quantity of being someone at work which Mr. didn't buy at first.  But as we get to know him through the series, no matter what happened whether he fails or not, he was never withered. He never gave up and was still positive in everything, even if he knows he was lacking.

He was like the heart of his team. When he said he was the company, the company's president even complimented him and had liked him.

Lee Sung Min as Mr. Oh. From the first moment he was introduced, he seems to be grumpy and always had this thing like why was Jang Geu Rae sent in his team. He wanted someone more qualified than him. But actually, he is idealistic, a man with principles, and has a kind heart.

From his scruffy hair, slow and fast walks, to the way he talks and his eyebags, you would already get that vibe like everything is on his shoulder, that he's barely getting through (he's a father, a team leader, a subordinate, a friend and of course a husband all in one) But Mr. Oh always show you how to strive, be determined, and always do your more than 100 percent best in everything.

Kim Dae Myung as Kim Dong Shik. What's not to love about his character! From being a supporting secondary character (Mr. Oh's sidekick), he was also one of my favorite characters in the show. With his enthusiasm, kindness, calmness, and loyal subordinate and friend, I couldn't help but love his character! He showed his rawest feelings as a subordinate and a really good friend. He may just seem like an ahjussi with very bad perm hair but he is more than that.

Kang Sora as Ahn Young Yi. I thought she and Geu Rae had some sort of a love line hahaha... There was this moment when Geu Rae saw her for the first time and everything went slow-motion. Ahn Young Gi started as the character whose so brilliant, so much talent, eloquence, and professionalism. That pretty unnie who I want to be when I grow up feeling.

But as we get into deep into her character, it gave us the other side of Young Yi whose vulnerability is showed with her awkwardness in a competitive world where men rule. Despite some few backstories about her, you get curious with why why why.

Kang Han Neul as Baek Yi. He somehow reminds me of someone I knew :) His character is like the KNOW-IT-ALL person. Like he always felt the need that his better than Geu Rae. There was this one line where Kang Sora told him the elevator that isn't he too selfish for thinking the way he thinks.

His arc progress showed his growth as a person. From taking things smoothly, by understanding the basics, by being calm and understanding, despite him being impatient shows us that each and every one of us had different personalities at the same time different in the way we view things. Kang Han Neul really made Baek Yi the person you wouldn't like at first but once you get to know him you'll understand where he's coming from.

Byun Yohan as Yook Seol. My favorite character in Misaeng. I love Gue Rae but Yoo Seol stole it! hahahaa... It's the first time I have watched him in a drama. He was introduced to someone you wouldn't like to be working with in the future. It felt like he's so into himself and only see him as he could do anything and he's so good at it.

But he's the biggest turnover in the series. He's one of the characters that whenever you see him you just couldn't help but be amused and laugh at him. His blabbering and funny gestures are really funny (for me). He also likes the glue and bridge between interns. He made you feel like one of his friends too, his presence is really seen. There's this one scene where he was in a gloomy state and you would totally feel it. Just like what Geu Rae had thought in an elevator scene, he felt he lost his friend York Seol.

Work-related issues from the series.

Misaeng showed the truest form of what is happening in the workplace. Maybe there's so much more to that but Misaeng gave us the reality at work. Some issues were tackled in the series.

1. Gender Discrimination.
-Specifically towards women. I couldn't forget this one scene where they said that women who get pregnant are the culprit at the workplace. They even advised Young Yi to be single and not to get married, because it would be a hassle to the men in the place. I just felt bad like why does it have to be that women are always the one who goes on the bad side. Not good enough worker, the wrongdoer in everyone's eyes, whether it would be on her in-laws, in her husband's eyes, as a mother, it feels like you are always not good enough. Basically, it's also shown in how society treats women, despite struggling double in everything we do it's just doesn't fit well because you are a woman.

2. It may not just be business but then again it's all about business.
One International is a trading company so everything seems like a business. Meeting potential clients and finding the best business to deal with. But sometimes it also gets personal. There's this one episode when Mr. Oh was so excited to meet his old-time pal in high school and he wants to have business with him but apparently, that person has been holding some grudge in the past.

It may seem petty at first but there are some things in life as they say couldn't be easy to let go of. Especially when it's coming from childhood.

At the end of the day, it can also be caring. There's this one episode when Mr. Oh faints due to overfatigue. Everyone on their floor crazily called and search where Mr. Oh went. It's very heartwarming because despite what Business it may be, the significance of family at work is shown.

It may just be business or just work-related, everything is just personal.

3. Contractualzation
I find this new, I don't know but I was shocked when Geu Rae's table has a "Contractual Employee" post. It felt like it was literally showed that he has an expiry date. Here in the Philippines, we also try to fight with contractualization, we call it here ENDO (end of contract). My heart ached so much on this. You start enjoying being at work, earning for your family, and then because of your contract, it's either you would get absorbed by the company or not. I felt the pain Geu Rae had when his contract is almost over. This may raise the ethical issue with the unjust treatment of workers, until now it's they are still implementing amends on our labor code here in the Philippines. I just don't know how it is in South Korea.

Learnings.

1. Understanding the difference between working alone versus working with others.
This has been taught in school from solo projects to team projects, but I guess when you are in the real world it may not be easy as it seems.

2. Every day is always a new day for a new battle.
It may be commuting on your way to work and on your way home. Working on time pressure and deadlines, whatever happens on that day, we should always move forward and if things didn't go on the way we plan we should never get discouraged and always do your best.

3. The importance of the work we do.
There's this one scene where Baek Yi tells his frustration to Manager Kang. That he was disappointed in himself and then Manager Kang gave an insight into the importance of what they do. That not all work should always be in the spotlight. That every single work we do is not less significant or less important, because every little thing we do adds up to make a big whole company :)

4. Finding Meaning to our work
Here goes the question why are working? Finding that spice as the older people say when your working is what is important. Does this make you happy? Does this make you happy? But as they also say work is also working progress. You can have a love and hate relationship with it but at the end of the day what you like is important. Find something that keeps you going.

5. Friendships
One of the warmest thing in the whole series is building friendships with your colleagues. That undeniable bond that even if you don't have some deep talks, each friend's "presence" felt significant.

6. We are our parent's Pride and Joy
No matter how small our accomplishments are, and even if things didn't turn out the way we want it to be, our parents are supporting us all the way. I really cried my heart out when Geu Rae overheard his mother on how proud she is with everything he does. That she knew he was hurting all those years but she kept mum about it and support him.

7. Our World is like a huge Baduk
We all have our principles, our own ways, that in this huge Baduk board we are in, we are the representation of our lives. Every move we take is like the black and pieces of the board.

Misaeng had shown up in a moment where it brings back memories of when I first started working in our company. That excitement at the same time fears if I can make it through or not. There's one instance in the series where Jang Geu Rae stares at One International Building and the emotion he felt was the same emotion I felt that moment. I was really happy.

There may be a lot of things that I have resonated with Geu Rae but at the end of the day, it's about doing the best you can every day. As if getting excited with something foolish today. Just like Geu Rae, I started late at work but it didn't stop me to always look forward no matter what.

I'm so late in watching the drama but this gave me a lot of tears on the side. I was ignoring the series for so long and here I am being close with every character ahhahahaa...

"Don't let anyone tell you that you can't. Just do it!" Thank you Misaeng! <3 <3

Lawless Lawyer

"As a Woman, I will succeed"- Geum Ja

I will succeed no matter what. I believe I will! It's been weeks since the quarantine, and almost all of the quotes that I have been gathering with the Kdrama's I have been Binge Watching is all about not losing the fight. "The fight towards the dream"

To think that we all can "paint our lifetime through our own time (jk2019)". It's funny how Lawless Lawyer is all about Law and order but here I am taking these words into my own accord. And it's true the words have made an impact on my heart. It reminds me back when I was in college, I am a woman and I can do things, not therefore, not because but I am a woman. If I'll stop now, I'll lose.

To our heroines Bong Sang Pil and Hae Ji, thank you for the constant reminder on keep moving forward to forsee the future of your dream. I really have to believe but sometimes hope can be a source of heartbreak and pain. If you do trust yourself, practice positivity, even if others see that the things you dream are for the weak, never lose the sight of your goals and fight for it.

Lawless Lawyers is a thriller series about Bong Sang Pil who lived a gangster life turned lawyer, wants to avenge his mother's death. On the other hand Hae Ji, suspended after she punches a judge after making a wrong verdict. As the two lawyers meet a series of crime fighting and scenarios these two and their team should face.

I love this drama that it deserves a 10!!!! From it's casting to it's story. Everyone is patched to one another that you can't get out of your seat and you just can't help but to play next!

Thank you guys for reading and dropping by! :) HOping that everything will soon be okay! I hope your dreams would come true and so as my dreams! SPICE!

Itaewon Class

"I am going to achieve everything I dream" - Sae YoRi

Itaewon Class 10/10!!!!!!!!! I guess I am not the only one whose been attached and has been learning so much from this drama! A lot of quotes could be swarming through these series. Quotable quotes that would make you survive through your dreams.

I just can't believe how overwhelming this drama was. From it's first episode to it's ending, it never lose it's attraction to its audience. I never thought that it would have a great impact on me (to you as well if you have watched this drama). There are some moments where I couldn't grasp some characters why they have to be that way but in the end I have grown to like them.

The drama was like a learning process for me all over again. Me being me, felt like this drama is meant for me. Well I guess maybe it's also for you.

I felt like it was telling me to "NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM!" because we're all going to make it through and achieve it. We will never know when? Never know how? Never know why?

In life, no one should ever determine your value. You should never let anyone tell you, you couldn't. And when time comes you could truly do it, you shouldn't prove anyone that they're wrong. Or prove anyone you could do it but instead prove yourself you could.

It also teached us to Inspire others (It's nice to hear someone that they're doing what they do because they were inspired by you)
and accept that everyone is different. Value and trust people, find others who would support you through and through; and surround yourself with good people.

In life, the things we wanted may not be what we pictured nevertheless, we should never be scared to try again because all of us room for improvement and second chances.

What I also liked about this drama is that they showed that no matter who you are, whether its your gender, your race, or your status in life, everyone should be accepted in the world we live in. And if you have a dream no one had the right to say you can't. (like what i said on the 5th paragraph)

I don't want to spoil anything but I really thought Sae Yoori would end up with Soooo aaaaahhh... (even if i know it would always be Yiseo since it was in the Manhwa) Nevertheless, Soo Ah is a woman with elegance and grace... I really liked her character :) and she might have her love line in Park Bogum's character hahahaa :) sana all!

Your goals are made by you. In reaching your goals you should never step on anyone just to achieve your dream. Be humble. And lastly as the drama goes by, always do have your investment running (SAVE for your future, save for your dreams) and have your goals set (because Sae Yoori had 15 years in saving for his goals).

To my friends and family, thank you for supporting me. Thank you for dropping by and reading my blog! I hope your dreams would soon come true and so as my dreams! Aja! Spice!

"Some days were tough, some days were sad. But something fun always come along every once in a while. And your boring life might turn into an exciting one" - Park Sae Yoori

Gangnam Beauty

"Life is all about fighting through struggles. People may seem living a worry free life but they're all just trying their best to keep living"
- Gangnam Beauty

Watched Gangnam Beauty during our Workcaytion last year. It was a non-stop whole day drama galore! I just can't stop pushing the next button, I guess I have felt Mirae's character. I felt like I was going through her own progress. Her character is very strong that despite on how the world treats her, she remained true to herself and accepted the things she's facing at the same time stood up for herself when things aren't going right.

In a world of judgement, sometimes we all needed just one friend who would truly support you no matter what. But of course new friends would also come along and would be with you through thick and thin. We also have our family (Our parents) who would support you and love you.

I'm super happy that I had the chance to watch this drama. Thanks to my chingu Denise and Netflix for this! haahahah

"I wish I could live without minding what other people say"

Sometimes I couldn't really ignore what other people say (well most of the time). It felt like their voices are manipulating me to just stop what I'm doing and be pathetic. Their voices seemed to dictate what I should do and it felt like what they was true and I made them play the game on me instead of me playing my own game.

The series was so endearing that in order to be truly you must fully accept yourself, your flaws, your faults and your imperfections. By the time you fully accept yourself, you won't worry about what other people says about you. Believe in yourself. In the end it's what makes you happy, go for it!

(Dear future, hoping that someone would look at me like the way he looks at her ahhahaha)

Thank you so much for dropping by! I hope that everyone is doing great, I hope your dreams would come true and so as my dreams! Ingat! SPICE!

Where the stars land

"Whatever happens, if we don't make an effort nothing would happen" - Chae Soo Bin

Me being me, seeing quotes like this made me feel like the universe is talking to me and telling me that I should never give up; where the stars land tells me that. This series tackled different scenarios airport personells had to faced (whether in times of rampage of a certain passenger, a delayed flight, or so on and so forth). Watching these drama made me fly back to my once upon a dream where I wanted to become a flight stewardess. I love airports. I love how I used to get excited just hearing it's name. And this series was like a reminder of a dream I used to have when I was younger.

"Whatever happens, if we don't make an effort nothing would happen"

This quote applies to everything we do. If we just sit like Juan and wait for the mango to fall on our mouth nothing would happen. The mango would just rot on the tree without us tasting the sweetness of the fruit. Same with life, if we don't move on our couches and make every step to make our dreams come true (for sure failures and triumphs would be never ending), we wouldn't taste the real feeling of success. Every thing in this world (it may be little miracles) would surely count as a blessing.

This drama gives me a push of the dreams I have been writing in my heart. #YESTOPOSITIVITY (walang masamang mangarap) You just have to hold on and make it through.

Just like our lovely main leads Han Yoo Reum and Lee So Hyeon, they strived really hard to aim for their dreams, and they inspired me to work with happiness in my heart because this is what I wanted to do.

The drama is super refreshing! Airport drama is amaaaaaazzee! Forgive me because Airports are my thing hahahaha... Kudos to everyone in this drama especially our Filipino Actors Ej Falcon and Lauren Young, Filipinos represent!

The only thing I didn't like about the drama was the ending! It was like HUH? Why in the world did they do this to us?!!??! But yeah still good to me! 9.5 (Because of the ending!!!)/10!

Thank you so much for reading my blog and dropping by! Kamsamnida! Stay safe! I hope your dreams would come true and so as my dreams! SPICE!

The Good Doctor (Japanese Remake)

"Because dreams can give people strenght to continue living"

And it had struck me all over again. I always believe that God is everywhere and He really listens. He encourages me and gives me a tap on my shoulder that I can do it ("Hang on a little my child").

I haven't watched the Good Doctor (Korean Drama) but I couldn't help but to watch Yamaken! Every episode leaves me crying (HARDCORE!). The series had touched my heart and even my soul (galing talaga! ang ganda talaga!) It bangs my head and it keeps repeating that if you wish it, it will truly happen. You just have to believe and put your heart into it but of course prepare for the obstacles that would sure come your way.

Kento is superb in this drama! Well he actually never fails to amuse me. I always feel like this is not him but the character he portrays. What I have learned and love about this drama is that no one could ever tell you that your dreams are not valid. That no one could tell you your value just because of this and that! Just believe in yourself, be you and you can.

I hope and pray that everyone is okay and that everyone is healthy! I PRAY THAT THIS WOULD SOON END!
