A Poem a day (You who forgot poetry)

“It’s not about where we were yesterday…”
“And it’s not about where we’ll be tomorrow.”
“It’s just about where we are today.”
“And, You.”  - HAPPINESS by Na Tae Joo
There's so many poetry in this drama that I couldn't decide what to put in my heading. But Happiness by Na Tae Joo on episode 12 is a poetry about our lives.

As my mom used to say, past is past, lets not go back to the person we once before, instead look at your present, enjoy every moment, do everything with faith, because it's not about who we are in the past but who we will be in our present, its us NOW.

So move forward, learn from those yesterdays and take that leap towards your future!

Ahh the beauty of poetry it makes our soul and heart connected.

What had attracted me in watching this drama is the "poetry's". I always love poetries and hearing poetry's in Korean makes my heart happy and I don't even know why. My heart is being touched like it's not supposed to be hahahahaa....

This kdrama leaves us that no matter what you do always be kind to others even if things are in a rough patch. No matter what happen even if life pulls you down, you always need to pull yourself up and go on. When life gives us lemon, lets make some lemonade! hihihihi

The story takes place in a hospital (the first medical drama without surgeries involve), and it centers Bo Young a young therapist who dreamed of becoming a poet but because of her family background, she studied to become a therapist.

In the hospital where she is working, she met her college crush Min Ho (the two had a terrible past issue), who becomes a trainee working under her and slowly had feelings with her senior Dr. Woo :)

Lee Yoo Bi As Bo Young

The last kdrama I have seen her was at the Scholar who walks through the night, I also remember her as Kang Hanuel sister in Twenty. She really looked young and would pass as someone who's on her teenage years. Bo Young is super charming and fun to watch. I do sometimes relate to her especially when she's on the clumsy side, loves poetry and cheerful.

There are a lot of things that she needed to do to be a regular therapist and despite of the challenges she's facing she never gave up and always gave her full potential in everything.

Lee Joon Hyuk as Dr. Woo

Oh I remember you Lieutenant Park! Dr. Woo's stiff persona matches Lee Joon Hyuk stature. He's the type of person you want to learn from but don't want to crossed paths with. He always has this term "LET ME GIVE YOU AN ADVICE" even if you're not asking one. Dr. Woo and Bo Young's chemistry is super cute. I feel you so much Bo Young! :)

Jang Dong Yoon as Shin Min Ho

Okay, so Min Ho was the love in the past. The two started a little bit off and bickering from the first two episodes, he's quite of a jerk that he just don't care if they like him or not. He's that typical friend who just don't care! I almost root him for BOYOUNG!! Actually I also want him for Bo young! hahahaa but hahhaa :)

As the series progress, your heart would be somehow confused on who will be Bo Young's love interest. The two male leads could be a good match for her.

My favorites

Well aside from the Poetry I love these tandems!
These two started really funny! Dr. Dae bang and Yoo Jun thought that the two of them are outcasts. Each one of them would pity the other and vice versa. I love how the two of them had finally understand and appreciate each other.  (*I remember that scene when they're both drunk in front of Nurse Joo, and they suddenly say the things they thought of one another! Which is hilarious because they misunderstood one another). I also loved the part when Yoo Jun told Dr. Bae that he's going to be a friend to him and Dr. bae being so touched run towards him to hug him. I'm like this to my friend too!! ahahahah

The three goof balls!

Joo Yong who find Min Ho and Kim Nam Wo bothersome and doesn't want to acknowledge them as friends. These three guys would just literally grill each other, bicker as if there's no tomorrow and would deliberately do humorous things without them knowing! I love this scene where Bo Young suddenly danced into Sunmi's Gashina hahah Ooops sorry spoiler here!

 F4

Who would have thought that these four would come up into the lovable F4 (okay hahaha my favorite 4 as of now). They may not have a lot of screen time together but I love how their advises for one another comes very timely when they needed it the most. Look at how attentive these three younger gents listen to their sunbae.

I just love how each scenario in our main leads life is connected to a certain poetry. I love how they convey messages through the usage of poetry. It really makes my heart watch it with happiness. Another light drama checked on my list! Super light and pretty drama!
“Life is like an Installment Savings Account.” -Kim Shi Tak.
“Life is like an Installment Savings Account.”
“Pay the principal, pay the interest”
“And if you miss the deadline, pay the overdue fees.”
“An installment savings account can be cancelled if it gets too overwhelming…”
“But when life gets too exhausting, can we cancel it midway?”
“If we calculate the years we’ve lived and return the years left to live”
“Are we able we cancel it?”
“Will we be able to get a cancelation refund?”
“Life is like a lifelong redeemable bond.”
But the best couple goes to this two! haahhaahha It reminds me

13 reasons why

Applause to the whole cast!

I have watched 13 reasons why series because we we're influenced by our cousin to watch it. I have read the book because way back years ago (I was curious at the same time we need book reviews for English Literature), 13 Reasons Why is set to be a movie adaptation and Selena Gomez was supposed to portray the character of Hannah Baker.

I remember reading two versions well not really read the second version but as we all know if you are fans of 13 Reasons Why, two books had two different endings as well as some differences between the book and the series (well all movie or series adaptation had differences). The 1st released book was Hannah died and the Anniversary Book had a different ending (the unreleased ending story of the book).

But we're not dwelling much on the book because the series had jumped into stories after Hannah's death (which is why 13 reasons why); 13 Reasons Why series had opened stories of teenage suicide, depression, bullying, sexual assault, violence against women and other complexities that happens not only in high school but everywhere.

The series is a dark drama that gives warning before you really dwell yourself into watching it. The series had led into deep conversations with our family in what we really felt and how we think we should address this feeling.

I felt like the story was written carefully and the story lines gives messages to every viewer who had been watching the drama. It's hard to talk about what we feel, it's hard to express how but at the end of the day there are people around you who is ready to listen(this might be easier said but there are people whose going to help you) There are professionals who are willing to help you no matter what.

Season 1 is about Hannah and her tapes, it talks about how a bright beautiful girl can be broken because of groundless rumors, bullying, threat, lies, betrayal and males entitlement to the society we allow.

Season 2 talks about how our justice system was broken. Hannah didn't get the justice she deserved the same as Jessica, because Bryce had walked out and won the case that "HE DIDN'T do anything wrong". It also shows how the voices of many girls couldn't stand a chance with male dominance and privilege. This even made others kept in silence and even in her death her reputation was still damaged.

Season 3 despite of the sudden introduction on our new main girl, it talks about a different window to our perpetrators story (in her perspective). That as human, they are meant to change for the better, that some of their actions are created because of a personal struggle but this doesn't mean that they are excused in doing so. What Bryce did was still unforgivable and traumatic, but in his actions (in Ani's story he was different and was sorry for his actions but it was too late because he had caused to much damaged to the girls he had hurt especially Hannah and Jessica) But his death questions me sometimes (this are our realities as well), I always think about is Justice applicable to people who cause hurt and pain to others with the crimes they commit? Can our justice be blind to the voices that speaks out the truth? Is the law only caters to the people who has more power than the others? It's one huge complications that the law is made to protect us, that no one is above the law but in the end the law has it's complexity that you wanted to know and understand.

Season 4 was like a plot twist we didn't see coming. Well yeah, plot twist of all plot twist. This series showed the many problems our world has. It talked again about the difficult situations teenagers had faced but in the most realistic *well it still has dramatization* but in a most understandable form). It felt like we created a world that we think is perfect for this generation but actually it isn't. This is our realities and sad truths our young ones had to endure in order to live and survive. We think that it's a crazy world out there when we are younger but it's crazier for them now. It gives us a realistic view on mental health, anxieties, racism, terror, and other serious and difficult issues they are facing and so our world. This season is also an avenue to seek help and support not only from our friends, from our parents but also through professional care. I love how Clay's speech end it goes like "We are Living Proof and that we survive".

The cast was super great! They had given us not just a glimpse to their emotions but an actual relatable feelings to a situation, it felt like they have lend their hearts for us to feel. The ending series made a huge pierce in my heart that saying goodbye to these characters made it nostalgic. Well written characters, well portrayed characters, characters we love. It's a great show at the same time a support system for people struggling with these issues, to get help and support that they need. That we are here for you, just take our hand and we will listen, you are not alone in this battle.

I just found myself laughing at myself because I understand the Clay's parents when they said well somehow like this "You guys never wanted to talk, we reached to you but you just kept quiet", because this is true our parents reached out to us and wanted some talks about what's happening but we tend to ignore it because we felt that we can do it by ourselves and we feel like they will never understand but at the end of the day just like Clay's dad said, high school are all the same, just in a different era but the same and yeah we older people are living proof that we survive, YOU SURVIVE. And yeah I'm getting old because I agree with the older people but yeah I'm still young well not so young because I feel how they felt.

Kudos to the whole cast and team!

Clay would always be my favorite character, I know he's super nosy and obsess in somehow being the hero but he's a great friend and the glue of the team. He may never be understandable in times but he's always there for you when you needed him. When he was having his anxieties I just feel sad that nobody had seen his struggles, that he also wanted to be seen and helped too.  In the end his character was the glue of the story, the glue of friendship. But I learned to love all characters throughout the series! It brought me to tears as I watched their story, it felt like the story was theirs. Justin made me cry, I just wished he had more bro stories with Clay.... I love Charlie and Alex love story! I guess that their love connection made me super kilig :) Jessica is a strong character that made me want to listen to her.

Thank you! At the end of the day, Kindness is what really matters. Share and spread the love!

Pastel Coffee

ako'y tutula

Sabi nila manunulat daw ako
Sabi nila magandaw daw mga tula ko
Sabi nila bakit daw ayaw kong ipabigkas
Kaya eto KAMI NA
Itinaas ang singsing na kanyang binigay
At lumapit ka at ako'y hinagkan
Parang telenobela diba
Ang akala mo di maari
Sa dulo ng iyong paghihintay
Pwede palang mangyari :D

Mirror of the Witch

"No matter what kind of person you are, No matter what kind of rank you have, no matter if you're sickly or not, everyone who was born in this world was born with the purpose of helping shape the world somehow. And finding your role in the world is what life is all about"

Everyone has purpose. Whenever I hear this word, I always remember what our priest used to say whenever he gave his Homily. We are all here in this world because we have something to do in this world. It's not about how big we do but on how our little things make things in a biggest way. I remember how my mom always tells us that even if things didn't work out the way we wanted it to be, we create our own purpose. The world may be a scary place but it's up to you to shine in your own way.

Mirror of the witch is a story about a Heo Jun (a well known Joseon Physician known as the Father of Medicine), who met a cursed princess who lived far away from the palace and led her years trying to break the curse. The two of them worked together in order to save the kingdom and of course break the curse.

Mirror of the Witch well from it's title is a fairytale like story that deems into a dark story telling of magic and royalties. The theme itself and the drama's color tone was dark, from it's feels to it's character perceptions. Well there's humor along its episode but since the drama was curses and fighting freedom from dark magic, overall the feels of the drama was gloomy.

The story started with the current Queen (Queen Shim) who couldn't bare a child. The Debi Mama (The Queen Dowager) asks help from a shaman and made use of a dark magic to help the Queen Shim bare a child. The Queen had twins (but as they say way back in those era, when twins are born at the royal family they say that it's unlucky), and as they say every dark magic has it's cause and effect. Due to the black magic, resulted to the princess being cursed and had her life being hidden for the world to never knew.

And so we did a Yoon Shi Yoon Kdrama Marathon (drama's he had after his army enlistment, overall I have finished I mean we had finished all his drama!!!!!)

Yoon Shi Yoon plays Heo Joon. I know that the drama was purely fictitious but I couldn't help but to read about the history of Heo Joon who's the Father of Medicine in Joseon Era. We don't see much of the funny and playful Shi Yoon but you'll get to see some as you watch throughout the drama. Joon's life was never easy, he was a son of a noble and a slave but his life triumphs was hard due to him being a son of a slave. Out of a dare, he find his way through the princess who was hidden for years and became one of the princess trusted confidant and protector. Despite of all the hardships he had been through when he's with her, he would do anything to protect her! Again, Yoon Shi Yoon nailed it! He gives depth emotions for Heo Joon's character to shine. :)

Kim Sae Ron plays Princess Yeon Hi. Gosh, this child is so pretty! She had pulled of Yeon Hi/Seo Ri's character like she was really the princess and she's cursed and she needed to do all she can to be released from her misery. Her innocence and sweet side had made me feel like I also wanted to help her. She character also had shown a huge growth from the innocent child kept far away to the strong willed woman whose knowledgeable, firm with her words and someone who believes that everyone is born with a purpose. :) and I just love the hair transitions of Yeon Hi!

A lot of people are worried about these two characters because of the HUGE AGE GAP! I was also shocked when I found out but the characters turned out to be great and the gap was never there. Yoon Shi Yoon looks like he drank a potion from a fountain of youth because he's face adjusted to Sae Ron's face hahahaha :D The characters was really convincing, even their love for one another, they may not have held hands nor kissed but just with the look in their eyes, there was love.

Hong Joo Played by Yum Jung Ah is the shamaness who brought dark magic in the palace. She uses dark magic to control the Queen, the King and almost everyone connected to the royal family. She's very ruthless, she doesn't care about anything whether it's a life of someone or someone she knew, as long as her plans succeed she would do anything in her power and make you her puppet! Don't ever mess with this woman, she's scary!

Master Choi played by Lee Sung Jae (Yap he's face sounds familiar hihhhihi). Is the head of the Taoist branch and took care of the princess as his own child. He tried to do everything in his power in order to stop Hong Joo with her evil deeds but due to their relationship history it was barely inevitable.

Lee Yi Kyung (my heart is hearing Gwenchana Gwenchana) plays the character of Monk Gwang. I thought that he's going to die but I was wrong he survived! He's also the protector of Seo Ri and took care of her at the temple and would do anything just to protect her. Funny Bromance alert.

Poong Yeon (Kwak Shi Yang) is Oraeboni. He's Yeon Hi's older brother who developed feelings for her. Here's the thing I just really don't get the love connection between characters growing up as siblings and later have feelings for the other. But nevertheless, Oraeboni had given sides of emotions whether it's for Yeon Hi (as a brother), Master Choi (as a son), Seol Gi (as a friend) and the King (as a loyal subordinate). He also had to fight his inner demons inorder for him to be out of Hong Joo's spell.

Queen Shim (Jang He Jeen) is one of the characters I feel sad for. She wanted to have a child so badly that she had partake into Hong Joo's plan. In the end she suffered so much, she lost her children and Hong Joo had made her a puppet and her misery didn't end there despite being with her long lost daughter again. I also felt like she was misunderstood by the King ( i don't blame him since everyone wanted him out of the throne), she wanted him to be healthy but all he did was tell her that she's out of the line.

Lee Ji Hoon plays the King in the story. I always knew him as Physical Education because of Cool Kiz and whenever I see him, I just knew he was Physical Education hahahaha... He's one unpredictable character! You don't know whether he's on the good side or not! He's sickness was so hard to watch that I needed to close my eyes because I just couldn't take it. And because of this sickness he became Hong Joo's puppet and made many wrong choices along the way. I just wish he had more bromance with Heo Joon, they seem cute and could be good friends in the series, because he trusted him despite of not really knowing him that much.

Dalhwan is Heo Joon's Hyungnim. He made Heo Joon's life miserable by always looking down on him. From the start he never gave Heo Joon happiness he wanted. He was a mama's boy, an alcoholic and always feel good about himself. But in the end, he showed progress of change and that's because of Heo Joon. :)

Seol Gae (Moon Ga Young) is Pooyeong's right arm. She had secrets of her own and is always with him in searching for Yeon Hi. I was waiting for her backstory why she had to be that way but it only gave us a glimpse of what had happened to her and Pooyeong...

Mirror of the witch is a combination of Sageuk, Semi-Historical (but not really based on historical facts), Magical and Fairytale. This drama made me so hook that I don't want to miss every single detail, there are just some mishaps (well, drama's do have some flaws but it's okay).

Having Yoon Shi Yoon Marathon for a month, he's drama always leave messages (moral lessons) to a certain character that needed that advice the most. It also felt like he wasn't just talking as his character but also directing the message to it's viewers.

I really liked the series. Yeah I know because I'm a Yoon Shi Yoon but the story is really nice! Try it! hihihih If you want a Sageuk Drama like me and want some fairytale magic this one is for you! :)

Thank you so much for dropping by! <3
